The young British woman dies after taking diet pills recommended on the Internet. Local police say they will investigate the sale and advertising of medicinal products on the network.
Aimee Eloise Parry, 21, died after ingesting eight diet pills bought online. The death of the young Brit, which took place on April 12, reignited the debate about the ease with which any Internet user can purchase or harmful counterfeit medicines on the Internet.
Doctors suspect Eloise, a university student from Shrewsbury, UK, took diet pills with dinitrophenol (DNP), an industrial chemical highly toxic. Two tablets this chemical would have been enough to kill an adult. With taking eight pills treat young man became almost impossible, since no antidote for DNP, reports the BBC.
British police revealed their concerns about the ease of buying drugs harmful to health on the Internet and has said it intends to investigate the marketing and advertising that conveys the supposed benefits of medicines sold on the Web "black market".
"Substances announced unofficial websites may endanger your health, as they can be extremely harmful, being out-dated or even false," warned Jennifer Mattinson, provincial head of the British police.
