A feature unique to Android so far, the company now owned by Facebook announced the arrival of voice calls via the iPhone WhatsApp.
The functionality will be available in the latest version of the app. The goal is for the user to make calls between two WhatsApp accounts using the data connection or Wi-Fi, without using minutes of talk time charged by operators, says Mashable.
The update for the iPhone is now available, but the functionality of voice calls will be launched gradually over the coming weeks. Among the new update, is easier sharing of photos and videos, within their own messages.
WhatsApp is quite popular in Europe, where many users already prefer it over traditional SMS. With the ability to make voice calls and taking into account roaming for contacts between countries, it is not surprising that WhatsApp still able to capture more interest.
